Football legends unite for star-studded NEXON Icons Match – how many can you name?

MULTIPLE football legends united for this weekend’s star-studded NEXON Icons Match.

But how many of them can YOU name?

The incredible game took place on Sunday at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in South Korea.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger took charge of challengers FC Spear.

While ex-Liverpool and Chelsea gaffer Rafa Benitez organised Shield United’s title defence.

Tens of thousands packed in for an epic battle.

And even more followed the dramatic clash online.

In the end, it was FC Spear who took home the win.

Late goals from Maicon and Joo-Ho Park saw them successfully retain their crown.

But the main talking point from the game was the sheer amount of legends in one place.

Title winners and Champions League victors from several eras joined forces with some of South Korea’s most famous players from years gone by.

Home fans were treated to appearances from goalscorer Park, Ja-Cheol Koo, Bum-Young Lee, Ki-Hyon Seol, Ji-Sung Park, Young-Pyo Lee and Young-Kwang Kim.

FC Spear were bolstered by heroes such as Bastian Schweinsteiger, Kaka, Thierry Henry, Gareth Bale, Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, Ronaldinho, Clarence Seedorf, Eden Hazard, Steven Gerrard, Robert Pires and Gigi Buffon.

While Shield United boasted Iker Casillas, Ashley Cole, Claude Makelele, Rio Ferdinand, Carles Puyol, John Arne Riise, Claudio Marchisio, Maicon, Alessandro Nesta, Nemanja Vidic, Michael Carrick, Gilberto Silva and Sol Campbell.

It made for a fine spectacle of football, with viewers left impressed by the occasion.

And it will take some doing for next year’s event to have even more iconic aces present.
