Fleetwood Town SACK manager Pete Wild after six defeats in seven as brief statement is released

FLEETWOOD TOWN have sacked Pete Wild after a barren run of form left them 12 points adrift of the League Two play-off places.

The Cod Army’s defeat to Colchester yesterday proved to be the final straw.

Fleetwood released a brief statement to confirm that they had wielded the axe.

It read: “Fleetwood Town can confirm Pete Wild has left the club with immediate effect.

“Following six defeats in the last seven games the club felt now is the right time to make a change to the first team management.

“Assistant head coach Adam Temple will also depart and everyone at the club would like to place on record their thanks to Pete and Adam for their hard work and professionalism during his time at the club.

“The club will issue a further update on the first team staff in due course.”

Wild, 41, was appointed as Fleetwood’s boss in December 2024 after former Premier League midfielder Charlie Adam was dismissed.

He went on to guide the Cod Army to 24 wins over the course of his 61 games at the helm.

But Fleetwood are without a victory since December 20, when they saw off Gillingham.

They have since gone on to lose six of their last seven showdowns, which has resulted in being knocked out of the FA Cup and EFL Trophy.
