This is a good week to find a two-start pitcher, as the list has five quality options, led by a red-hot southpaw. On the hitting side, fantasy baseball managers may want to add additional members of the red-hot Red Sox.
Two-Start Pitchers (listed in order of preference)
Noah Cameron, Royals, 46% (@ LAD, @ LAA): While we can debate if Cameron (4.37 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) is a great pitcher or merely a serviceable one, there is no arguing that he is the hottest pitcher in baseball, having allowed one run over 23 innings over his past three starts. Cameron has enjoyed a strikeout uptick (24) in those three outings, while continuing to show respectable control skills. Managers who hope to catch lightning in a bottle should grab the southpaw now in hopes that he can keep this going over a two-start week that opens with a difficult matchup and ends with a favorable one.
Christian Scott, Mets, 33% (@ ATL, vs. WSH): The Mets are slowly allowing Scott to build up his stamina, as he has thrown 98 and 96 pitches in his past two outings, respectively, which has allowed him to toss 11 frames over those contests. He was labelled as one of five untouchable Mets at the trade deadline, and it’s easy to see why when looking at his 3.15 ERA and 11.1 K/9 ratio. Scott’s matchups are challenging this week, as the Braves have a top 10 offense and the Nats continue to lead the majors in runs scored. But with Washington working without James Wood (IL) and Luis García Jr. (traded), Scott is worth the risk.
Patrick Sandoval, Red Sox, 15% (@ TOR, @ PIT): Although Sandoval issues too many walks, he has a few things working in his favor. The left-hander strikes out plenty of batters, pitches for the hottest team in baseball and has thrown five innings in three of his past four starts. He should have success against a Blue Jays lineup that ranks 29th in runs scored, and although the Pirates have been effective overall, they have logged an unimpressive .686 OPS against southpaws.
Hayden Wesneski, Astros, 13% (@ SF, vs. SEA): In two starts since returning from May 2025 Tommy John surgery, Wesneski has gone 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. He has been efficient in his outings, totaling 11.2 innings pitched despite throwing just under 80 pitches in each start. Prior to his extended absence, Wesneski had shown potential while logging inconsistent results over 222 innings that spanned parts of four seasons. The right-hander has favorable matchups this week, as the Giants and Mariners rank 25th and 30th respectively in runs scored.
Cody Bradford, Rangers, 3% (@ LAA, @ ATH): Bradford showed exciting skills when he struck out five batters across 4.2 scoreless innings in his return from June 2025 elbow surgery. The lefty was a fantasy asset prior to the injury, as he logged solid ratios (3.54 ERA, 1.01 WHIP) over 76.1 innings during the 2024 season. Pitching at two parks that help power hitters isn’t an ideal scenario for someone who gives up more fly balls than the average starter, but he has shown enough skills before and after his surgery to get the nod in 12-team leagues.
Andrew Painter, Phillies, 9% (@ STL, @ MIN): Since returning from the minors on July 31, Painter has allowed three runs over 10 innings while posting a 10:4 K:BB ratio. Those numbers are a starting point to building trust from fantasy managers, but with a 6.48 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 16 outings this season, the right-hander still has plenty of work to do. Painter has reasonable matchups this week, but it isn’t enough to get him into mixed-league lineups.
Dean Kremer, Twins, 7% (vs. BAL, vs. PHI): Although Kremer tossed five innings of one-run ball against a mediocre Royals lineup in his Twins debut, his 2:2 K:BB ratio didn’t inspire much confidence that he will be any better in Minnesota than he was in Baltimore. The right-hander will face two teams this week that are average in both runs scored and OPS versus righties, and his skills aren’t good enough to inspire confidence in any fantasy manager who isn’t completely desperate to chase wins.
Hunter Dobbins, Cardinals, 3% (vs. PHI, @ CHC): Dobbins has made two quality starts in three tries since the All-Star break. However, his last outing was a fortunate one, as he held the Yankees to two runs over 6.1 innings despite allowing two homers and three walks. His upcoming matchups are slightly more challenging than average, as he will face a pair of teams who possess postseason spots right now and have quality lineups. At best, he can be considered in 15-team leagues.

Favorable Monday-Thursday hitting matchups
Red Sox @ Blue Jays: Although there are a couple effective starters within the group, the Red Sox hitters are a strong volume play for a four-game series in which they will face righty starters in each contest. Lefty hitter Masataka Yoshida (3%) and hot-hitting infielders Caleb Durbin (50%) and Andruw Monasterio (28%) are the top players to add.
Rangers @ Angels: The Rangers should enjoy four games against a weak Angels pitching staff that lost one of their only reliable members (José Soriano) at the trade deadline. With three of the starters throwing from the right side, Joc Pederson (11%) is the best option for those who have room in their utility spot. Evan Carter (3%) has potential as well.
