Fans Doubt Shakur Stevenson’s Claim He’d Turn Down a M Jake Paul Fight to Run It Back After a Draw

Shakur Stevenson claims that he would refuse a similar offer of $40 million that Gervonta Davis received for a fight against Jake Paul if he were coming off a 12-round draw. He says he would rematch that fighter so he could get his “get-back” first.

Would He Really Say No to $50 Million?

“I’m going to go and get my get-back,” said Shakur Stevenson to Justin Laboy when asked if he would take a fight if he were offered $50 million by someone after fighting a draw against another fighter.

It’s hard to believe that Stevenson would turn down a $50 million offer to fight someone like Jake Paul. I mean, Shakur didn’t even clear up the controversy surrounding his fight against Edwin De Los Santos in 2023.

De Los Santos Controversy

Many fans believed that Shakur lost that fight. He should have cleared up that controversy by giving Edwin a rematch, but he didn’t. Moreover, people didn’t buy into the injury excuse Stevenson gave to explain why he’d run all night. Again, if he wasn’t even willing to run it back with De Los Santos, how can fans believe he wouldn’t take the $50 million if offered to him rather than focusing on his “get-back” for a fighter he’d fought to a draw against?

“I’m going to go get my get-back. Is the $50 million going somewhere? So, after I get my get-back and beat this [fighter]. So, it’s a $100 [million] after I get my get-back,” said Stevenson.

Interestingly, even when the interviewer told Shakur that the $50 million offer wouldn’t be there if he chose to make the fighter wait while he focused on his “get-back” to clear up a draw, he still doggedly said he wouldn’t take the money.

Given his focus on targeting exclusively money fights against Gervonta Davis and Teofimo Lopez over lower-paying, but arguably riskier ones against Andy Cruz, it’s unbelievable that he would turn down the $50 million or even half of that to get his precious “get-back” first.

Tank Davis Still on His Mind

“Next question. I’m a GOAT. I’ll beat anybody. Once you say you’re not going to fight, what are we talking about? Then we can talk about it,” said Shakur on what he would do if Gervonta Davis called him and said that he wanted to fight.

Shakur made it clear that he’s still interested in fighting Gervonta if the opportunity arises. Despite his initial comment about not wanting to talk about Tank, he changed his tune when Laboy asked him for his reaction if he was offered a fight against the Baltimore native. He’s still eager to fight Davis, no matter what. The perception fans have of Shakur is that he’s desperate to fight Tank, and it’s made him look bad in their eyes because he hasn’t let go.

“Me,” said Shakur when asked who wins between him and Jake Paul. “You’re not going to close your eyes and hit me with a shot that I don’t see. I don’t care how big you is,” said Stevenson, saying he’d beat Jake Paul.

Without a weight handicap to weaken Jake Paul, it’s unbelievable that Shakur would beat him in a 10 to 12-round fight. Jake hits too hard, and he would eventually get to Stevenson to land one of his bombs due to his longer reach. For him to avoid getting hit by Paul, he’d have to limit his output to almost nothing because he’d get nailed if he chose to open himself up by throwing.
