After hiring Mike Vrabel to replace Jerod Mayo as the team’s head coach, the New England Patriots are building out an intriguing staff that brings a good mix of experience and youth.
Interestingly, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the Patriots are expected to keep Ben McAdoo around in 2025 after joining Mayo’s staff in 2024.
McAdoo, 47, served as a senior offensive assistant last year, working under offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt. Prior to that, he spent 17 years coaching in the NFL after a few seasons as a high school and college coach.
In 2014, McAdoo was hired as the New York Giants offensive coordinator and was promoted to head coach in 2016. He brought the Giants to a 13-16 record and a postseason appearance in his two seasons with the team.
Now, McAdoo will work under Josh McDaniels and considering his history working with quarterbacks, tight ends and offensive linemen, he could help with several positions in 2025.
McAdoo is just the third coach returning for next season, as he joins special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer and special teams assistant Tom Quinn.
