Ex-Arsenal star Carl Jenkinson screams for medics and given gas after horror injury in pre-season friendly

CARL JENKINSON suffered a horror injury during a pre-season game.

The ex-Arsenal star was playing in a friendly match for Bromley against Millwall.

Jenkinson, 33, was named in the starting XI for the clash at Hayes Lane.

But in the 68th minute, Jenkinson was left writhing in agony after he stuck his leg out to try and stop a Millwall winger in the build-up to the visitors’ second goal.

According to From Bromley with Love reporter Peter Etherington, Jenkinson hit the deck following the collision and stayed there.

While on the floor, he was seen waving to the bench for medical help.

He was then treated with gas before being stretchered off the field.

The horrifying incident caused a lengthy delay in the match between the League Two and Championship sides.

The Ravens wished the veteran defender well as he was taken off.

They said: “Carl Jenkinson is stretchered off following a lengthy spell receiving treatment on the pitch.

“We’re all wishing you a speedy recovery, Jenko.”

The game ended 2-1 to Millwall, with Bromley scoring a consolation early in injury time – of which there were 10 minutes.

Former Arsenal and England star, 32, completes League Two free transfer after months unemployed

Jenkinson first joined Bromley last September.

He played 13 games for the south-east London outfit in his first season.

In April, it was announced he had signed an extension with Bromley, but the club did not say how long the deal was for.

Jenkinson previously played for the likes of Arsenal, West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Charlton.

He was capped once by England, playing against Sweden in 2012.
