MANCHESTER UNITED will slash their Alejandro Garnacho asking price to just £40million this summer, according to reports.
Garnacho, 20, was left out of the Red Devils’ 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the Premier League final day, having complained about being benched for the Europa League final.
The Argentina international has since been told that he can leave Old Trafford, should the club’s valuation be met.
SunSport understands that United initially wanted £50m for Garnacho.
But, amid interest from Napoli, The Guardian now claim the mercurial winger could in fact for for £10m LESS.
In addition to Napoli, Chelsea have also shown an interest in signing the United misfit.
And Red Devils fans have been left seething at the lowball price being quoted for Garnacho.
One United supporter fumed on X: “If Man Utd sold Garnacho for £40m, everyone would be laughing at us.”
While a second pointed out: “Jhon Duran £65m, Nico Gonzalez £50m, Moussa Diaby £50m, Teun Koopmeiners £46.1m, Joao Felix £42m, Manuel Ugarte £42m, Galeno £42m.
“Alejandro Garnacho is 20 years old, has 38 G/A in the last two seasons & is contracted until 2028 – he should cost more than £40m.”
A third reasonably commented: “Imagine how much United would be quoted for an Argentina international of his standing. Considerably more than £40m.”
And another added: “That’s too ridiculous an amount, what kind of negotiation is that?”
After being dropped against Aston Villa, Garnacho jetted to Asia with his team-mates for United’s controversial post-season tour.
During the trip, the wide man looked uninterested during an autograph session with fans.
Garnacho was then filmed getting into an altercation with a fan.
Later in the week, Amad Diallo was asked about whether Garnacho could stay at Old Trafford beyond this summer.
Boss Ruben Amorim struggled to stifle laughter as the journalist delivered their question.
Diallo diplomatically responded: “Alejandro is a really good player and we need good players in the team.
“I know Garna really well, so I hope to have Garna next season.
“It is not really a big issue for the team. Everything is good now.”
Garnacho has played 144 times for United – scoring 26 goals and laying on 22 assists.
