Round two of the Thomas Tuchel-England era
Evening and welcome to the second game of the Thomas Tuchel-England era.
The elite tactician has managed some of the world’s most glamorous clubs, has a catalog of domestic honours and led a mid-season dysfunctional Chelsea side to an unlikely Champions League triumph. Now, he is tasked with possibly his hardest job of his career yet: lead England to their first major triumph in 59 years.
After all the chatter and discourse, Tuchel and England got really acquainted on Friday night.
At times it was awkward as first dates tend to be, but ultimately they got the job against Albania – expect that to be the theme of the next 15 months.
As for their opponents, Latvia, they broke a four-game winless streak with a win against fellow group minnows Andorra. They are currently 140th in the world rankings, and are coached by former Italy youth coach Paolo Nicolato. Have a look out for attacker Dario Sits, winner of the game prior.
Kick-off: 7.45pm GMT. Team news to come.
