EMMA RADUCANU heads out to Indian Wells this weekend without a new coach by her side.
As SunSport reported last Sunday, the Brit is determined to get back on the tennis court as quickly as possible in California despite her stalker hell recently in Dubai.
The former US Open champion was left shaken and began crying when she noticed a fan in the stands of her last match who had followed her to four different resorts in three different countries.
Despite that scary situation – the “fixated” man had approached her the day before in a cafe – the 22-year-old will travel to the States for the Fifth Slam.
And for the trip, she will be joined by LTA academy coach Tom Welsh.
This is only an interim position and the search for a permanent coach will carry on into the clay-court season, which starts in April.
Old coach Nick Cavaday, a childhood pal, recently stood down from the role for health reasons.
Fitness trainer Yutaka Nakamura will remain in her corner as she tries to string together a run of results given that she has suffered three first-round exits this year.
WTA bosses and Indian Wells officials are set to ramp up security at Tennis Paradise to ensure there is no repeat of the incident that blighted her second-round loss to Karolina Muchova in the UAE.
Raducanu, 22, was left in tears on court as her match with Muchova was suspended.
She was seen hiding behind the umpire’s chair before the man was removed from the venue.
The man was detained by police after being ejected and subsequently handed a restraining order.
Raducana returned to the UK following the scary incident.
She has since changed her Instagram bio to read “ad astra per aspera” – Latin for “to the stars through hardships”.
In a statement, Raducanu added: “Thank you for the messages of support.
“Difficult experience yesterday but I’ll be okay and proud of how I came back and competed despite what happened at the start of the match.
“Thank you to Karolina for being a great sport and best of luck to her for the rest of the tournament.”
