Emma Raducanu and rumoured love interest Carlos Alcaraz could be forced to pull out of $1million US Open mixed doubles

EMMA RADUCANU’S Dream Team partnership with Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open is in doubt — and the pair could miss out on a $1million prize pot.

The two former Flushing Meadows singles champs are set to play together as wildcards in the new Mixed Doubles Championship starting on Tuesday.

It will generate huge interest, especially given suggestions of a romantic link beyond the tramlines.

But Spanish ace Alcaraz, 22, is in the final of the Cincinnati Open tonight, facing Italy’s world No 1 and big rival Jannik Sinner, 24.

Normally, Masters 1000 events end on Sundays but this one was extended.

It takes two hours to fly between Cincinnati in Ohio and New York.

And Alcaraz is likely to have to travel on the day he and Raducanu, 22, are supposed to play in the two-day knockout competition.

New Wimbledon champ Sinner, 24, is also currently in the draw and he is set to play with ten-time doubles Grand Slam winner Katerina Siniakova.

There is a top prize of $1million (£740,000) for the winning team over the two days in Queens.

Raducanu’s team are in contact with Alcaraz’s camp and are hopeful he will still play despite the logistical headache.

And should Raducanu make it on to court, she will be facing a battle with British men’s No 1 Jack Draper in the first round.

Draper has teamed up with American world No 4 Jessica Pegula, having seen his previous two partners, Qinwen Zheng and Paula Badosa, withdraw through injury.

The winner of that tie could then take on Novak Djokovic and Serbian partner Olga Danilovic next.
