THE EFL have ordered Blackburn and Ipswich to replay their abandoned match in full.

Last Saturday’s match was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Blackburn were leading 1-0 at the time thanks to Todd Cantwell’s second-half penalty.

To add insult to injury Ipswich were down to ten men after Jacob Greaves saw red.

The match will be replayed at an as yet unannounced date.

Rovers boss Valerien Ismael suggested that given his side the three points would have been the fairest outcome.

He said: “We’ve got the right to want the three points because it’s the fair thing to do, especially when the opponent is down to 10.

“Eleven versus 11 is another situation.

“We were clearly at an advantage and the data shows that we were on the front foot since the red card.”

The EFL have been consistent when it comes to ordering matches are replayed in full following abandonment.

A Championship clash between Rotherham and Cardiff in March 2023 was replayed, despite Cardiff leading 1-0 prior to the waterlogged pitch.

A Leyton Orient vs Lincoln match that was called off in the 82nd minute because of a medical emergency in the stands was also replayed in full.
