The DAZN PPV rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is set for December 21 in Saudi Arabia with the Gypsy King determined to avenge his only career defeat. Promoter Eddie Hearn, who previously backed the Ukrainian, has now reversed course. Speaking to iFL TV, Hearn acknowledged a change of heart and explained the potential impact of a Fury victory.

“If Fury wins – and I’m actually leaning towards him, I’ve had a little bit of a switch – Fury could fight Anthony Joshua for the unified world heavyweight title,” he said. “The biggest fight ever in the sport. Wembley, Riyadh, wherever.”

This dramatic shift comes just weeks after Hearn openly stated that Usyk’s skill, ring IQ, and prior triumph made him the logical favorite: “I have no idea how to beat Usyk, but Tyson Fury is a very smart fighter. He has smart people in the corner, but also, from an IQ level in boxing, he’s right up there. Unfortunately, so is Oleksandr Usyk. So, my money, especially when he’s won the first fight, will always be on Oleksandr Usyk. My heart wants to see a Tyson Fury win… I’d love to see him do it, but I do see him as the underdog in this fight.”

Hearn’s comments emerge after Fury confirmed a potential trilogy with Usyk, contingent on winning the upcoming rematch.
