The Cinderella run for the Commanders continues into the 2025 NFC championship game. After upsetting the top-seeded Lions last week, the Commanders will head to face the Eagles in Philadelphia for a chance to secure a Super Bowl 59 berth.

Washington’s playoff run has been spurred by sensational play from rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. His playmaking ability, both through the air and on the ground, has allowed the Commanders to come out on top in the most crucial moments of each playoff game.

Head coach Dan Quinn also deserves plenty of credit for the recent success in Washington. His aggressive mentality on the offensive side of the ball has regularly put the Commanders in a position to win football games.

And with Daniels under center, the offense has been able to execute in these high-leverage situations. Washington has now converted six of nine fourth-down attempts in the playoffs, and their success on these plays has played a pivotal role in the two wins this postseason.

The Philadelphia defense will be tasked with containing Daniels and stymying the Washington offense on fourth down. The Eagles have largely been successful at keeping opposing offenses in check this season, ranking second in scoring defense and first in total defense. But Daniels had their number the last time these two teams met. He tossed five touchdowns and led the Commanders to a thrilling 36-33 comeback victory in Week 16.

If Daniels is wheeling and dealing once again, the Eagles’ offense is going to have to step up to the plate. Saquon Barkley is fresh off a 205-yard performance in the divisional round and is more than capable of taking over this game. But don’t discount the Philly passing attack either. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are both capable of being explosive playmakers when their name is called.

4:08 p.m.  — The Eagles are back with the Tush Push once again. Hurts lunges forward behind a banged-up Landon Dickerson (now wearing a knee brace) and moves the chains.

4:07 p.m.  — The last nine points of the game have scored by the Commanders. The Eagles will look to provide an answer here and they get the drive going with a nice pop pass to DeVonta Smith.

Eagles 14, Commanders 12

4:01 p.m. TOUCHDOWN  — Once again, the Commanders’ drive is highlighted by their ability convert on third down. It’s 3rd & 3 and Daniels hits McLaurin on a quick slant. After breaking a tackle, it’s off to the races for McLaurin and he finds the endzone. Washington goes for two to tie the game up, but Ekeler is tackled short of the line to gain. Philly hands onto a two-point lead.

4:00 p.m.  — That missed field goal could be the turning point of this game. Daniels kicks off the drive with a scramble into Philadelphia territory.

3:55 p.m. MISSED FIELD GOAL — The drive stalls out after the Tush Push. Hurts drops back to pass on third down and he is immediately met in the backfield by Frankie Luvu. Hurts goes down, bringing up fourth down. Jake Elliott trots out for a 54-yard field goal and pushes it wide right. We’ve still got a one-score game

3:52 p.m.  — Kenneth Gainwell gets two touches to open the next series. He makes a nice gain, but they reach 3rd & 1 after a screen. Even with center Cam Jurgens sidelined, they still go with the Tush Push and Hurts picks up the first down with ease.

3:50 p.m.  — The Eagles get off schedule after a false start, but they’re able to recover. Hurts quickly hits Goedert on 3rd & 7 and he drills a defender on his way to a 15-yard pickup.

3:48 p.m.  — The Philadelphia offense is humming yet again. Hurts tosses one over to A.J. Brown on the second play of the drive and he brings it in for a first down.

Eagles 14, Commanders 6

3:45 p.m. FIELD GOAL — The Commanders have been in third and long all afternoon. After an incomplete pass to Brown on second down, it’s 3rd & 10. Daniels can’t find an open receiver on third down and just throws it away. Zane Gonzalez comes on to the field once again and punches it in from 46 yards.

End of first quarter: Eagles 14, Commanders 3

3:40 p.m.  — After coughing up the ball on the previous drive, Dyami Brown runs a nice curl route and Daniels threads the needle to find him for a 24-yard gain. This could be the explosive play that Washington needed to get going.

3:38 p.m.  — Not so fast… it’s a fake punt! Veteran punter Tress Way lofts one up to rookie tight end Ben Sinnott and he comes down with it! The gutsy call keeps the drive alive.

3:36 p.m.  — The Commanders are going to need some explosive plays if they’re going to keep pace with the Philly offense. They can’t find one on this drive and an off-target throw on third down from Daniels forces a three-and-out.

Eagles 14, Commanders 3

3:32 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — After a nice pickup from A.J. Brown, the Eagles go back to Barkley once again. He bounces it outside and strolls into the endzone for another touchdown!

3:29 p.m.  — The Eagles are changing it up on their second drive of the day. They open things up with three straight passes. After Dallas Goedert picks up a first down, DeVonta Smith hauls one in for a 20-yard gain with a nifty toe tap. The Eagles are in the red zone for the first time today.

3:26 p.m. FUMBLE — Kliff Kingsbury draws up a designed look for Dyami Brown on first down. It looks like he’s going to have a respectable gain before Zach Baun comes in and punches the ball out! Reed Blankenship recovers the ball and Philadelphia is set up on the Washington 48-yard line.

3:25 p.m.  — The Commanders come out for their second drive and are grinding out first downs once again. They get to 3rd & 1 on their first series and Brian Robinson Jr. picks up the first down.

Eagles 7, Commanders 3

3:19 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — This Eagles’ opening drive begins just how you thought it would. Hurts pitches it to Barkley and he takes it 60 yards to the endzone! He sheds a couple of tacks, pulls off a spin, and cuts back on his way to the end zone for another patented Saquon house call.

3:18 p.m.  — Rookie running back Will Shipley fields the kickoff and returns it out to the 40-yard line. Jalen Hurts and company will be set up with some premium field position.

Commanders 3, Eagles 0

3:14 p.m. FIELD GOAL  — It’s been a steady grind down the field for the Commanders. Daniels hooks up with Ekeler on third down, but he’s tackled short of the first down marker. Quinn sends out the field goal unit on 4th & 3 and Zane Gonzalez knocks it in to give Washington the early lead.

3:12 p.m.  — It’s the same story for the Commanders yet again. A couple of short gains brings up 4th & 2 and Washington is going for it. Daniels can’t find a receiver, so he takes it up the middle himself and picks up a first down to the Philadelphia 28-yard line.

3:10 p.m.  — In classic Dan Quinn fashion, Washington is lined up to go for it on 4th & 5. Daniels drops back to pass and finds Ertz wide open on the sideline beyond the sticks. That’s a huge conversion for Washington.

3:09 p.m.  — For a third straight time, the Commanders are in third and long once again. Daniels scrambles out to the right and looks for Austin Ekeler downfield, but Cooper DeJean makes a spectacular play on the ball to break the pass up.

3:07 p.m.  — After struggling to get anything going on the next series, the Commanders face third down once again. Daniels finds Olamide Zaccheaus in the flats and he’s able to slip through a tackle for a first down.

3:06 p.m.  — A couple of short gains from Zach Ertz and Terry McLaurin move the chains. McLaurin makes a nice snag on a low pass from Daniels to keep the drive alive on third down.

3:04 p.m.  — The Philly pass rush is making its presence felt early. They get to Daniels on the first play of the game, but he’s able to slip away for a short gain.

3:03 p.m.  — The Eagles have won the toss and deferred. We’ll see Jayden Daniels and company on the field first.

2:55 p.m.  — The Eagles are introducing their starting lineup and the crowd erupts as Saquon Barkley is introduced. These fans are ready to see some football!

2:51 p.m.  — It’s a big day for Commanders’ TE Zach Ertz. After spending nine years and winning a Super Bowl with the Eagles, he’s back in Philly to take on his former team. He’ll be Jayden Daniels’ safety blanket this afternoon as he looks to go to yet another Super Bowl.

2:42 p.m.  — The Eagles’ standout DB duo of Reed Blankenship and Cooper DeJean, also known as the “Exciting Whites”, are getting fired up for the game. They’ll have their hands full containing Terry McLaurin today.

2:27 p.m.  — During pregame warmups, Hurts is taking snaps from Landon Dickerson. Meanwhile, Kenny Pickett is taking snaps from Cam Jurgens. It appears that Jurgens will indeed be an emergency option at center.

2:23 p.m.  — Before gearing up for the game, Commanders’ receiver Terry McLaurin took a moment to speak with Julian Edelman on the sideline. He discussing “winning time moments” and how the Commanders will have to seize one of the game’s pivotal moments to secure a victory.

2:10 p.m.  — As expected, Jalen Hurts’ knee injury is lingering into this week. He’s on the field for pregame warmups, donning a brace and wrap on his left knee. The big question is how this will impact his ability to scramble, but we’ll just have to wait and see on that front.

2:00 p.m.  — The Eagles are trying to rekindle some of the magic that led them to a Super Bowl victory back in 2017. Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles is back as the team’s honorary captain today. Philly legend LeSean McCoy is also on the field during warmups and will be cheering on the Eagles.

1:54 p.m.  — Kickoff is just over an hour away and Washington fans are starting to pour into The Linc in Philadelphia. Expect this to be a raucous environment this afternoon as these teams compete for a spot in Super Bowl 59.

1:45 p.m.  — It’s conference championship weekend, and as we’ve seen so often over the last 20 years, Tom Brady is on the field. He’s not going to take any snaps today, but he’ll be up in the booth with Kevin Burkhardt, calling the game.

1:35 p.m.  — In an interesting turn of events, Jurgens is active today. However, it’s believed that he’ll only be available in case of emergency and will not be on the field alongside the starters.

1:25 p.m.  — Rookie sensation Jayden Daniels is on the field and getting locked in ahead of the Commanders’ first conference championship since 1991. A win today wouldn’t only be monumental for Washington as a franchise, but Daniels would also become the first rookie quarterback to start in a Super Bowl.

1:15 p.m.  — Philadelphia will be without starting center Cam Jurgens this afternoon due to a back injury. He was a game-time decision and tested it out during warmups, but will be unable to suit up today. Landon Dickerson will slide over and take Jurgens’ place at center while Tyler Steen will fill in at left guard. It should be interesting to see how the Eagles are able to execute the Tush Push without Jurgens at center.

1:05 p.m.  — Eagles’ starting quarterback Jalen Hurts is in the building and he’s grinning as he looks to head to a second Super Bowl in three seasons. After suffering a knee injury in the divisional round, all eyes will be on Hurts and how he will fare on the run.
