The Miami Dolphins are doing everything they can to compete in the AFC East this season, especially after a rather disappointing campaign last year. The team will be led by Tua Tagovailoa, and as of now, it seems veteran wide receiver Tyreek Hill is looking to have a proving year—if the Dolphins decide to keep him.

Currently, there is one player who appears likely to be traded before the season starts: Jalen Ramsey. He carries a hefty contract, and the Dolphins have reportedly been unwilling to take on a significant portion of his guaranteed money.

“The Dolphins appear unwilling to take on any of Jalen Ramsey’s guaranteed money to facilitate a trade. Teams are very interested in trading for Ramsey, but don’t want to take on his full contract. This is the current hold up,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported.

One way to ease the cap burden is to wait until after June 1 to make or finalize a trade.

“ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports ‘there’s more interest in Jalen Ramsey than people realize.’ Trade could be announced in June, potentially. Schefter notes if trade happens before, it wouldn’t be processed until after June 1 for cap reasons,” Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson posted.

Ramsey has addressed Dolphins fans directly, particularly those who questioned his commitment to the city. His message appeared to be a way of making amends before an expected trade. A new NFC team has now been linked to him—none other than the Minnesota Vikings.

“I think he would be an awesome fit with the Vikings,” former NFL player Jason McCourty said.

The Vikings already have some solid depth at the cornerback position, but adding a player of Ramsey’s caliber would be a clear upgrade. Minnesota is in position to compete for a playoff spot, which is crucial—especially for a veteran like Ramsey, who wants to be part of a team in win-now mode.
