The Miami Dolphins have kept their moves subtle to begin the offseason, mostly adding depth to the offensive line and secondary.
With roughly $15.7 million in salary-cap space, per Spotrac, the Dolphins don’t have a ton of wiggle room to work with if they want to make a splash signing. Of course, there are plenty of ways for general manager Chris Grier to free up some money.
And while Miami enters the offseason with a strong starting duo at wide receiver as Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle return for another season, they still have been linked as a potential destination for a former All-Pro receiver.
In a bold prediction from Marissa Myers of TWSN, the Dolphins find a way to bring former Los Angeles Rams star Cooper Kupp to South Beach.
“For the Dolphins, they should be all in on Kupp. While he is older, and has health with injuries, it’s clear the Dolphins need more help at the position,” Myers wrote. “Sure, they have Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, but Waddle and Hill both dealt with injuries throughout the season. Outside of Waddle and Hill, the Dolphins lack depth at the position and it showed when Hill and Waddle missed time and other guys had to step up.”
Kupp hasn’t exactly had a clean bill of health in recent seasons, either. Since his incredible All-Pro campaign in 2021, Kupp has missed 18 games across his last three seasons due to various injuries. He can still be a productive asset, but it would be unwise to view him as an elite option entering his age-32 season.
Spotrac set Kupp’s market value at a modest $21.9 million over two years, which is a deal Miami can pull off after moving some things around.
For an offense that could use another weapon beyond Hill and Waddle in the passing game, bringing in the former Rams star is at least something to consider.
