Dolphins’ Jalen Ramsey has specific destination in mind, with two contending teams as favorites

Jalen Ramsey’s time in Miami appears to be winding down, and a return to Los Angeles may be his preferred path forward.

The Dolphins have been exploring trade options for Ramsey since early April but have yet to finalize a deal. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter (via Pro Football Talk), who appeared Friday on the Pat McAfee Show, the star cornerback is eyeing a return to the West Coast. “He would like to go to Los Angeles — Rams, Chargers, somewhere like that,” Schefter said.

One potential suitor stands out more than the rest: the Rams. Ramsey spent nearly four seasons in L.A., winning a Super Bowl and becoming one of the league’s most dominant corners during his time with the team. His connection with Rams head coach Sean McVay remains strong, and that relationship may play a factor in any possible reunion.

“He is a total stud,” McVay recently said. “He has continued to play at a really high level. He and I have kept in great touch even since we ended up trading him to Miami. Special competitor, great person, great father.”

Although mutual interest is evident, there are real obstacles. The biggest hurdle is Ramsey’s 2025 salary, which is fully guaranteed at $24.235 million. McVay acknowledged that onboarding a player with a contract of that size requires advance planning.

“You’re usually planning months in advance, and it was unforeseen that he would become available,” McVay said. “There are things in place that could prevent it from occurring.”

Miami’s asking price is another factor. Whether the Dolphins are seeking players, draft capital, or financial relief through a split of Ramsey’s remaining salary, the complexity of the situation has delayed a deal. Schefter indicated that a resolution could come before training camps begin in late July.

Until then, Ramsey’s future remains in limbo. But all signs point to Los Angeles — and the Rams — being at the top of his list.
