The Miami Dolphins, who went 8-9 and missed the playoffs last season, have had an underwhelming offseason. They haven’t added any players one could expect to make any real impact, and at the same time, they lost veteran defensive lineman Calais Campbell to the Arizona Cardinals while offensive tackle Terron Armstead retired.
They will have 11 picks in next week’s NFL draft, including the No. 13 selection in the first round. They need help on their offensive line, as well as help at multiple positions on defense.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Miami may focus on the cornerback position in the draft, and it brought in one such prospect on Monday.
“The Dolphins, eager to add talented cornerbacks in the draft process, brought UCF’s BJ Adams to team headquarters on Monday, a UCF source said,” Jackson wrote.
Adams isn’t one of the top prospects at his position, and he isn’t a finished product, but his 6-foot-2, 182-pound frame makes him an intriguing prospect for some.
He isn’t quick, and he could struggle in some defensive schemes, but he has some tools that could eventually make him a starter-caliber player in the pros.

The Dolphins have Jalen Ramsey, who is still going strong at age 30, but other than that, they aren’t rich at the cornerback position. They performed well on defense last season according to a few metrics, but they were 22nd in interceptions and 28th in forced turnovers.
