‘Doesn’t feel real’ – Chelsea star Aggie Beever-Jones still in disbelief about crazy summer and ultimate birthday gift

AGGIE BEEVER-JONES received the ultimate birthday gift this summer.

On the day she turned 22 in July, she also became a European champion for the first time.

What was already set to be a special occasion turned into a life-changing moment that will be etched in history.

And it’s only just started to sink in.

“It still doesn’t always feel real what happened, it was such a crazy summer,” Beever-Jones told SunSport. “If I’m honest, I can’t quite believe we did it.

“There were a few times I was on the edge of my seat. But it was an unbelievable experience and something I’ll never, ever forget. I think as time goes on, it’ll probably sink in a little bit more.”

The forward made three appearances at Euro 2025, scored once and provided one assist for England in Switzerland.

She didn’t play in the final against Spain on July 27, but one moment in particular from that match stood out.

“I look back to the final and with it being on my birthday, I don’t think I’ll ever have a better birthday than that,” Beever-Jones continued.

“But I think for me, I look at Niamh [Charles], someone who came on and impacted the game, was able to take a penalty when we needed it and put it away.

“For me, that’s such a key moment. I’m so close with Niamh so when that ball went in the net, I just had immense relief because I care so much about her.

“So that’s a moment that sticks out for me. Niamh is someone who really helped me throughout the tournament. I’d be lying if I didn’t say scoring my first Euro goal was definitely a moment as well.”

Another personal highlight for the Chelsea forward was the homecoming parade and celebration at Buckingham Palace two days after the final, which also sparked a viral moment when manager Sarina Wiegman was surprised on stage with her favourite music artist, Burna Boy.

She said: “The last Euros I was in the crowd when they had it [the celebration] at Trafalgar Square, that was still incredible.

“But to turn out and there be 65,000 fans, yeah, the parade is definitely a highlight.

“Going down the Mall and seeing every single person be so happy that the women’s game is evolving and changing in such a positive way.

“I still can’t believe Burna Boy came out! I think Sarina was in absolute shock as well, which was a very cute moment and very raw and authentic. Yeah, those few days were some of the best I’ve ever had.”

Fresh from a short summer break, Beever-Jones is now preparing to kick off the new season with Chelsea.

The Blues won every domestic competition last term and completed the feat without losing a single match.

However, the Champions League slipped through the net following an 8-2 aggregate loss to Barcelona in the semi-finals.

The competition was eventually won by the club’s London rivals, Arsenal.

Beever-Jones and her Chelsea team-mates are now using that European disappointment to motivate them for the new campaign.

“Obviously, winning the domestic treble was incredible,” the forward explained. “We missed out on one but for us, we can look at it as a successful season.

“But we still didn’t get our hands on one trophy and that’s where we have to push on and that’s the ambition for this year.

“We want to match what we did last year and go beyond that. The Champions League is the one trophy we have yet to get our hands on and hopefully we can go all the way this year, but we have to take each game as it comes and each trophy as it comes.

“Hopefully we will get there this year.”
