Did Stevenson Scare Schofield Away? Fans Aren’t Buying It

Shakur Stevenson predicted this week that Floyd Schofield would pull out of their fight on Saturday night, and he was correct. Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) predicted Schofield would pull out because he was “scared,” but fans aren’t buying it. They think he was set up.

‘Kid Austin’ Schofield is getting too big of a payday to pull out of a fight against a light puncher with glass hands. It’s not believable that he backed out because of fear. The strange part of Shakur predicting ahead of time was that this would happen because how could he expect something like that so accurately? Schofield didn’t have a history of pulling out of his fights. So, why would a weak puncher like Shakur suddenly think he would pull out and walk away from a career-high payday?

If somebody set Schofield up to get him out of the fight, that’s so bad. The thing is, it brings a dark cloud around Shakur now because it was his opponent. That would have been a really dangerous fight for Stevenson because this guy can punch, and he’d mess up his hopes of getting that big payday against Gervonta Davis. Even if Shakur won, his popularity would nosedive if he ran from Schofield for 12 rounds. With his power, we likely would have seen a lot of running.

They’re looking for a way out, ” Shakur Stevenson said on the All The Smoke YouTube channel, suspecting ahead of time the potential of Floyd Schofield pulling out of their fight on Saturday.

The way Shakur talked made him sound like a dangerous fighter to avoid, but it didn’t seem believable that Kid Austin would pull out against a weak puncher like him. We’ve already seen many times how Shakur fights when he faces someone with power. He runs around the ring. He doesn’t stand and fight. Schofield is one of the biggest punchers in the lightweight division, and he’s not given off fear vibes.

Shakur is still on Saturday’s card on February 22nd but will be fighting one of two soft opponents being considered. Those two are Josh Padley and Moussa Gholam. It’s unclear if Stevenson’s purse will be the same or if it’ll be reduced to reflect him fighting a lower-level opponent.
