Devin Haney is training on the beach for his fight against WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. in 27 days on November 22, 2025, in Riyadh. He’s doing some strange beach ball throwing, tossing it over his back and running in the sand to retrieve it.
Fans Roast Haney’s Routine
Fans on social media are ridiculing Haney’s beach training, viewing it as a waste of time. They expect the former two-division world champion to get in the ring on November 22nd and run from Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs).
Fan comments:
- “Can’t work out that glass chin“
- “He’s doing this for nothing.”
- “Just to get knocked out. LMAO.”
- “It’s got to be a joke.”
- “Get in the gym.”
If Haney gets knocked out by Norman, he’ll know that he made a mistake with his beach training. It’ll be a good lesson, though.
Throwing a beach ball on the sand isn’t the kind of training that will improve his mobility. He should be on the track, focusing on 100-meter to 200-meter sprints. Devin is going to need to be elusive throughout, as he’s going to be hunted down by Norman Jr. the entire fight.
Haney needs bursts of speed to create distance between him and Norman Jr. The best way to train for that is on a track, not in the sand. Beach training will build muscles, but will slow Haney down, making him more hittable for Norman Jr. That’s not good for Haney. He needs as much speed as possible to survive.
Norman Jr. Smells Blood
He doesn’t possess the chin to stand and fight the 24-year-old WBO champion. His defense isn’t good enough to pitch a shutout, so Norman Jr. lands nothing. He will connect sooner or later, and it’s going to be bad for Haney once that happens.
Devin showed a lot of heart by agreeing to battle Norman Jr. in his first full fight at 147. It’s reported that Turki Alalshikh wanted Haney to fight Brian. If that’s true, it makes sense that he’s chosen to face the big puncher. It’s such a risky fight for Haney that would be a foolhardy move on his part to hand-pick Norman Jr. as his opponent in his first fight at 147.
