“Kid Austin pops took all is his money & giving it to his girlfriend & her kids. Allegedly,” Haney said on X. “I feel bad for that young kid working hard & his dad tricking it. I’m rich & my pops rich we don’t share bank accounts or Instagram’s.”

The comment quickly drew a fiery response from Schofield Sr., who dismissed the accusation and redirected the conversation toward Haney’s career decisions inside the ring.

“You knew I had to come meet you on the frontline, you little weirdo,” Schofield Sr. said in his reply. “You still mad because ‘Kid’ whipped your a**? But since you’re a braveheart, when are you rematching Ryan, or when are you going to fight Shakur?”

Schofield Sr. also revived an old talking point that has circulated around Haney during past exchanges with rivals. He again accused Haney of having a “glass chin” and questioned why the former undisputed junior welterweight champion was engaging in online arguments instead of locking in his next opponent.

“Get done typing stuff and get in the darn ring,” Schofield Sr. said. “Who are you going to fight? Let’s talk about that.”

The exchange added another layer of noise to an already crowded conversation around Haney’s future. A rematch with Ryan Garcia remains one of the biggest possible fights available to him, while a long-discussed clash with Shakur Stevenson continues to hover as a matchup fans have pushed for over the past year.

Schofield Jr., known as “Kid Austin,” has also been mentioned at times as a potential opponent for Haney as both fighters move through the lightweight landscape.

None of those fights were advanced by the back-and-forth on social media. Instead, the argument turned into a public feud between Haney and Schofield Sr., with accusations about money, sparring sessions, and personal issues replacing any real movement toward a deal.

Fans tend to treat these exchanges as entertainment, but they also tend to come back to the same point raised in Schofield Sr.’s response. Until Haney locks in his next opponent, every online argument quickly ends up returning to the same question about his direction inside the ring.
