Deontay Wilder Claims Joshua–Jake Paul Fight Is “Scripted”

Deontay Wilder Claims Joshua–Jake Paul Fight Is “Scripted”

Deontay Wilder says he believes the Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul fight is “scripted” for December 19th. He has no proof to back up his theory, but he says he thinks it’s orchestrated bout due of the size difference, Joshua being an ex-champion, and still active with his career.

The former WBC heavyweight champion Wilder states that Jake Paul’s fight against Mike Tyson was “fun and games. But now Jake is fighting a real professional in AJ, and he doesn’t believe he’s capable of mixing it with that type of fighter.

Is AJ Still Elite—or Just Famous?

The perception that many fans have of the 36-year-old Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) is that of a mentally and physically broken fighter from years of hard fights during his 12-year pro career. While he hasn’t run a gauntlet of tough opponents, there’s been enough B-level fighters to knock a chip off him. He was never the fighter that his British fans believed him to be.

If you looked at AJ with both eyes open, you could spot weakness in him as early as 2012 when he fought Roberto Cammarelle in the London Olympics and was given a win he didn’t deserve.

The 2017 fight against then 40-year-old Wladimir Klitschko cemented the fact that Joshua was fool’s gold. Fans with hero worship failed to see what was staring them in the face. AJ wasn’t that good a fighter from the start. So, for Jake Paul to beat AJ, it’ll show that he wasn’t that good, and now he’s a worn-out version of a flawed product.

“I think it’s scripted a little bit because of the weight difference, and Joshua is a former champion. Also, he’s currently active,” said Deontay Wilder to Fight Hub TV, giving his thoughts on the Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul fight on December 19th in Miami.

Wilder: Tyson Fight Was “Fun & Games”

“This is the first time we’re seeing Paul against an active fighter. We’ve seen him against [58-year-old] Mike Tyson. That was all fun and games. But now you’re dealing with a real professional. We’ll see how it ends. Like I said, I think it’s scripted.

“I want everyone to have fun. I want them to enjoy themselves because we risk our lives for others’ entertainment. Just go home safely to have memories to say we did a great job,” said Wilder.
