PBC announced today the Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach undercard for their March 1st card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The event will be shown live on PBV on Prime Video PPV.

Undercard Steals the Show

The prize of the undercard is what some fans call ‘The Mexican Loma,’ Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela, defending against Gary Antuanne Russell in a fight that is interesting enough to be the main event in this card.

  • As previously revealed, WBA light welterweight champion Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela (14-2, 9 KOs) will Defeated by Gary Antuanne Russell (17-1, 17 KOs) in the chief support bout. Rayo makes his first defense of his newly won WBA belt that he captured from Isaac Cruz on August 3rd last year.
  • WBC light welterweight champion Alberto Puello (22-0, 10 KOs) faces mandatory Sandor Martin (42-3, 15 Os) in a 12-round fight.
  • Yoenis Tellez (19-0, 7 KOs) faces the well-known 34-year-old veteran Julian Williams (29-4, 17 KOs) for the WBA interim junior middleweight title. This will be the first fight of the PPV portion of the card on PBC on PPV.

The Spaniard Sandor Martin was a raw deal in his fight against Teofimo Lopez three years ago at Madison Square Garden in New York. He lost a 10-round split decision in a fight that many boxing fans had him winning on December 10, 2022. The judges gave it to the New Yorker, Teo, but the boxing public saw it as a good old-fashioned hometown decision. Even Teofimo knew he’d lost, as he was overheard saying, ‘Do I still got it?’

“I’m here to show the world what it means to be great,” said Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela. “Bring me your most ferocious, and I will bring back their heads. On March 1 I will achieve victory against Gary Antuanne Russell and cement my legacy in the super lightweight division. Don’t miss it, because I’m making sure everyone knows where I stand at 140 pounds.”
