DAVID BECKHAM is reportedly ready to sign a former Manchester United star to replace Jordi Alba.
The Barcelona legend is set to retire alongside Sergi Busquets at the end of the MLS season.
Alba, 36, joined Beckham’s Inter Miami in 2023 and made 95 appearances for the club.
He has been an important part of the team, having also contributed 14 goals and 28 assists.
The full back’s retirement will leave a big hole in Javier Mascherano’s squad, but one that Beckham thinks he can fill.
The former Red Devil star is reportedly closing in on an agreement to sign Sergio Reguilon.
The Spaniard has been a free agent since leaving Tottenham Hotspur at the end of last season.
He spent the 2023/2024 Premier League campaign on loan at Old Trafford but only featured nine times in the league.
The Daily Mail have claimed that the defender has agreed on the move.
It is suggested that confirmation of the 28-year-old’s two-year contract will be announced soon.
The report adds that Beckham and Miami are still looking to Europe to add more stars to their squad.
The club is currently playing in the end-of-season playoffs.
Meanwhile, Alba announced that he would be hanging up his boots on social media.
He wrote: “The time has come to close a truly meaningful chapter of my life.
“I do so with complete conviction, with peace, and with happiness. I feel I’ve walked this path with every ounce of passion I had.
“And now it’s the right moment to open a new chapter and close the previous one with the best possible feeling.
