Dave Allen is convinced that Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov’s fighting style is perfect for the way he fights. That’s why Allen (24-7-2, 19 KOs) picked him as his opponent to fight on October 11th at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, England. They will battle in a 12-rounder on DAZN.
Allen says he wishes he could take up as Agit Kabayel, because he would have the ability to attack Makhmudov’s body the way he did in 2023 to make the fight much easier. Kabayel stopped Makhmudov (20-2, 10 KOs) with body shots in the fourth round.
Makhmudov Style Suits Allen
If Makhmudov fights anywhere close to how he looked against Kabayel, he’ll likely knock out Allan in the first three rounds. He was connecting with some big shots on Kabayel in that fight, and barely missing with others.
“I make people miss, and I can punch. I’ve got little T-Rex arms,” said David Allen to talkSport Boxing, talking about his fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov. “If you get close to me, I can belt you from four inches away.”
Allen didn’t look at all hard to hit in his last two fights against Johnny Fisher. He’s kidding himself if he believes he’s hard to hit. The only reason Fisher had problems was that he’s a poor heavyweight.
“Makhmudov will play into my hands. What he does, I’m comfortable with,” said Allen. “I think people will be surprised by my counter-punching, my speed. It’s a massive step up, and I think he’ll be the favorite. I just fancy the match already. When I watched a lot of him, I really fancied it. It’ll suit me.
“People say I need to hit him to the body and take him a couple of rounds. I’m not Kabayel. I wish I were Kabayel. If I woke up as Kabayel tomorrow, I’d be a happy man,” said Allen.
