Daniel Dubois Shouts at Oleksandr Usyk in Wembley Face-Off for Rematch

Daniel Dubois Shouts at Oleksandr Usyk in Wembley Face-Off for Rematch

Daniel Dubois shouted at the unified heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk, during their face-off today outside Wembley Stadium in London, going into their rematch this Saturday, July 19th, in London. Their event will be shown on DAZN PPV.

Dubois Shouts at Usyk

Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) stood still, looking emotionless, just staring at IBF champion Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) in the entire face-off. Even when Daniel began to shout at him at the top of his lungs, he showed no visible reaction. Dubois’s primitive attempts at intimidation failed to work on Oleksandr.

The two champions are fighting a rematch in part due to the controversy of their first fight in 2023. In that fight in Wroclaw, Poland, Dubois dropped Usyk with a right-hand that landed on the beltline.

Usyk required over four minutes to recover from the body shot before he got to his feet. The referee controversially ruled it a low blow, which saved Oleksandr from being knocked out. Not surprisingly, Dubois has been stewing ever since about the incident, and feels that he was robbed of a victory.

Saturday’s fight gives Dubois a chance to vindicate himself and show the fans that he was the better fighter all along. For Usyk, he needs to prove that he was the rightful winner and that he wasn’t saved by the referee that night.

There’s also the narrative that has been floated by fans of the 38-year-old Usyk being old and lacking the youth to defeat the younger 27-year-old Dubois. Usyk is experiencing ageism from some people, and he needs to prove that he’s still young enough to defeat this young knockout artist.

Massive Fight Purses Revealed

Dubois and Usyk will receive massive purses. According to Yahoo Sports, Usyk’s purse is expected to be around $132 million, while Daniel’s will be $71 million. It’s a massive amount of money for a rematch that has failed to generate a lot of buzz from boxing fans until this week.
