Danica Patrick recently opened up about her relationship with NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, which ended in 2020.
The former driver Patrick joined The Sage Steele Show to share her story.
Patrick called Rodgers “emotionally abusive.”
“It felt like it was my life,” Patrick told Steele. “So when you live with somebody, it’s your whole life… And because the nature of the relationship was emotionally abusive, so that wore me down to nothing.”
Patrick continued with more details.
“Someone that you know, people could never imagine that I would lack any confidence, or belief in the simple things about who I am,” she said. “Everything was torn to bits. He leaves a trail of blood. I don’t think I’m saying too much earth-shattering stuff after we — there’s been enough out there.”

Patrick feels she has now come out the other side.
“It gave me the greatest gift, which is myself,” Patrick said. “It gave me the greatest gift of how much I needed to show up for myself and take care of myself.”
Patrick and Rodgers were together for two years before their relationship ended.
Rodgers has since dated actress Shailene Woodley, and reports indicate he’s now engaged to a woman named Brittani.
Patrick’s current dating status is unknown.
Rodgers, 41, is lined up to continue his NFL career in the fall, probably with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Patrick, 43, retired from racing in 2018.
