Dana White’s Boxing Mount Rushmore Favors Star Power

White was quick to point out that he doesn’t just look at wins and losses. He views greatness through the lens of a promoter.

“I look at things from a different perspective than most people do because I look at the business side of it too,” White explained.

His top four picks reflect that philosophy:

  1. Muhammad Ali
  2. Sugar Ray Robinson
  3. Floyd Mayweather
  4. Mike Tyson

The inclusion of Ali and Robinson is hard to argue with, as they represent the gold standard of skill and cultural impact. However, the back half of his list leans heavily into the “megastar” category.

By placing Floyd Mayweather at number three, White acknowledges the “Money” era and the blueprint for modern sports promotion. The selection of Mike Tyson at number four further proves White’s bias toward fighters who changed the financial trajectory of the sport. While Tyson’s peak was legendary, purists often argue that other fighters have deeper resumes.

The most glaring absence on White’s list is Manny Pacquiao. As the only fighter in history to win world titles in eight different weight classes, “Pacman” is a permanent fixture in the GOAT conversation for most fans.

Leaving Pacquiao off while including Tyson is bound to stir up heat. Pacquiao’s longevity and willingness to face elite competition in multiple eras make him a statistical marvel. However, because White views these lists through a “business side” lens, it seems Tyson’s raw intimidation factor and Mayweather’s undefeated record carry more weight in his eyes.

This isn’t just a fan sharing his favorite fighters. With White consistently hinting at a massive move into boxing, these comments offer a glimpse into what he values. If Zuffa Boxing finally becomes a reality, expect White to go hunting for the next Tyson or Mayweather, fighters who are as much of a brand as they are a champion.
