Promoter Dana White announced the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford undercard prelim card today that starts at 5:30 p.m. ET on YouTube on September 13th at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The prelims will be free.
“The prelims for the Canelo-Crawford fight are awesome,” said Dana White on social media.
While Dana is pretty excited about the Canelo vs. Crawford prelim card, the response from fans on social media has overwhelmingly been negative. The comments have ranged from “Mediocre” to “poor card.” It’s evident from the firestorm of negative remarks from fans that they had expected more from this heavily hyped card.
- Serhii Bohachuk vs. Brandon Adams – 10 rounds, middleweight. This is a rematch of their 2021 fight, where Adams had to rally to pull out an eighth-round knockout comeback victory.
- Ivan Dychko vs. Jermaine Franklin – 10-round heavyweight. The 6’9″ Dychko (15-0, 14 KOs) is a two-time Olympic bronze medalist from Kazakhstan. Franklin (23-2, 15 KOs) has only lost to Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte.
- Reito Tsutsumi vs. Javier Martinez – 6-round super featherweights. Tsutsumi (2-0, 1 KOs). He has over 100 amateur fights.
- Sultan Al-Mohammed vs. Martin Caraballo – 4 rounds, super lightweight. Al-Mohammed, 17, is making his pro debut.
- Steven Nelson vs. Raiko Santana – 10 rounds, light heavyweight. Nelson (20-1, 16 KOs). Santanta (12-4) is coming off back-to-back upset wins, and he’ll be looking to pull off his third consecutive upset.
- Marco Verde vs. TBC. Verde’s opponent will be revealed when they get an opponent.
Turki Alalshikh should have expected this reaction from fans, as many want value for events that involve a big main event. There’s a lot of interest from people in the Canelo-Crawford fight. The co-feature fight on the main card is Callum Walsh vs. Fernando Vargas Jr. in a light welterweight contest. That fight hasn’t created much, as neither of those two fighters are predicted to win world titles in their careers.
