LIVERPOOL’S Premier League clash at Crystal Palace was paused after a fan emergency in the stands.

Referee Chris Kavanagh halted play on 13 minutes just as the Reds were getting ready to take on a free-kick at Selhurst Park.

Just four minutes after Palace took the lead through Ismaila Sarr, the Reds were preparing to take a free-kick just outside their opponents’ box.

That was when a group of home fans on the halfway line began alerting Kavanagh to a situation around them.

Palace and Liverpool’s medical staff immediately joined up and sprinted across the pitch to attend the incident.

That took five minutes to deal with before the game restarted.

Security staff, stadium medics and stewards remained around the scene of the incident as the game carried on.
