Terence Crawford told Gervonta Davis on X to “stop being scared” and fight Shakur Stevenson and Keyshawn Davis. Those two are close friends of Crawford, so it makes sense that he’s trying to shame Tank Davis into fighting them.

Crawford’s Protege

Keyshawn has no fanbase and has looked terrible in fights against Miguel Madueno and Nahir Albright. He’s shown no interest in fighting Cuban Andy Cruz, who whipped him four times in the amateurs and made him look like a circus clown in the 2020 Olympics.

Tank isn’t going to help out Crawford’s gym-mate, Keyshawn. If Crawford wants to try and turn his friend, Keyshawn, into a star, he needs to give him some courage to face conqueror Andy Cruz.

Crawford is trying to get at Gervonta after he trashed him on X, saying,

“Y’all really think he [Crawford] is chasing greatness. He’s not. That’s what he has to do to make decent money.”

Tank Davis is talking about Terence chasing paydays, not greatness against Canelo Alvarez in Saudi Arabia. This is more about retirement money for Crawford. If he were really into his legacy, he’d move up to 168 and prove himself first instead of begging for the fight.

Crawford has been telling fans that his rationale for moving up two weight divisions to challenge unified super middleweight champion Canelo is for “legacy” purposes to become great, but Davis sees it as purely money-oriented.

Bud’s Bunch

This is what Crawford has to do to make money because he can’t sell. Crawford’s last fight against Israil Madrimov reportedly brought in between 75,000 to 100,000 buys. Those are terrible numbers. Crawford has NEVER been a PPV draw like Tank Davis has.

The lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis (12-0, 8 KOs) shares the same trainer with ‘Bud’ Crawford. They’re both trained by Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre.

Tank won’t fight a boring Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) because he’s not a marketable fighter and would be dead weight for the promotion. Gervonta would bring in all the PPV buys, and Shakur would just be there. Shakur is a boring fighter that people don’t want to watch.

I still don’t know why Eddie Hearn signed Shakur and thinks he can turn him into a “Global star.” That isn’t happening in the U.S.

Maybe Hearn can make Shakur a star in the UK because their entertainment standards seem low. That’s why fighters like Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Conor Benn, and Chris Eubank Jr. are so popular over there. They would never be stars in the U.S. You must have talent to be a star in America.
