Cowboys-Ravens trade prediction sends $8 million bust from Dallas to Baltimore

Cowboys-Ravens trade prediction sends million bust from Dallas to Baltimore

The Dallas Cowboys recently made a blockbuster trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers for wide receiver George Pickens. Now, an analyst believes that could lead to yet another trade with the Baltimore Ravens.

Last Word on Sports’ Anthony Palacios is predicting that the trade for Pickens will lead to the Cowboys shipping draft bust Jonathan Mingo to the Ravens.

“Zay Flowers is the only consistent weapon on the entire receiver depth chart,” Palacios wrote. “Meanwhile, Rashod Bateman could truly be a trade target if he can’t replicate the same astonishing performance he had last year. Mingo could probably find his groove in one of the best offenses in the league as a capable weapon, especially in the deep attack.”

A former second-round pick of the Carolina Panthers, Mingo lasted just a season-plus in Carolina before he was shipped off to the Cowboys, along with a seventh-round pick, for a fourth-rounder, a trade that was outlandish at the time.

It was outlandish because Mingo certainly wasn’t worth that much. After tallying just 418 receiving yards during his rookie campaign in 2023, Mingo had a measly 121 before the trade in 2024.

In eight games with Dallas, he fared even worse, as Mingo posted just five catches for 46 yards. Making that even more dreadful, the Cowboys had basically nobody behind Ceedee Lamb on the depth chart, yet Mingo still couldn’t get going.

Mingo does have an opportunity to carve out a depth role on a depth chart that still doesn’t have much behind Lamb and Pickens, but we wouldn’t bet on him doing so.

At this point, Mingo’s value is in the toilet. The Ravens can get him for a seventh-round pick if they are interested, but we don’t anticipate that being the case.

The Ravens have Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman as their top two, and Baltimore signed DeAndre Hopkins, who gives them a strong No. 3 option, and drafted LaJohntay Wester.

Considering what we’ve seen from Mingo over two seasons in the NFL, it wouldn’t make much sense to add him, unless the Ravens see something we don’t.
