The free-agent market has limited options remaining, but the Dallas Cowboys appear to be in hot pursuit.

As of Friday morning, the Cowboys still hadn’t signed a number-two receiver to pair with superstar CeeDee Lamb. But Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the Cowboys were “making a push” to sign former Los Angeles Rams star Cooper Kupp.

Schefter did not, however, insinuate that the Cowboys were the new favorites for Kupp. Even if the former Super Bowl Most Valuable Player is Dallas’ first choice at this point, it still makes sense to have a backup option.

Meanwhile, one NFL writer is projecting that the Cowboys go a different direction to land a four-time Pro Bowler.

On Thursday, USA Today’s Nick Brinkerhoff predicted that Dallas would sign 31-year-old Stefon Diggs, who suffered a torn ACL in his eighth game of his lone season with the Houston Texans in 2024.

“It seemed like Diggs would return to Houston, but the Texans ended up having other ideas. Now, Diggs will almost certainly wear a new jersey next season, but the landing spots are starting to dry up,” Brinkerhoff wrote.

“The Cowboys make perfect sense from a location standpoint, making the trek from Houston to Dallas, in addition to being the team where his brother, Trevon Diggs, plays. Dallas can’t go into the 2025 season without another receiving threat next to CeeDee Lamb.”

Though Diggs has a tendency to be mercurial, he seemed to be settling into a number-two role well in Houston behind Nico Collins before the untimely injury. He put up 496 receiving yards in eight games–which would have put him on pace for a seventh-straight 1,000-yard season.

Spotrac projects a one-year, $13.7 million deal for Diggs based on market value. The Cowboys shouldn’t hesitate to make that sort of offer if it’s on the table, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Dallas land whichever of the two is cheaper between Diggs and Kupp.
