The Dallas Cowboys need a playmaker on their offense. They could swing a blockbuster trade on draft day to make sure they bring one to Dallas.

Travis Hunter is one of the best players in the draft class and could make an instant impact on the Cowboys. He has tremendous ability as a receiver and has great instincts in the secondary. However, he will not be there when the Cowboys get on the clock at No.12. USA Today’s K.D. Drummond predicted the Cowboys would make this trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars to land Hunter:

  • Cowoys receive: No.5 overall pick
  • Jaguars receive: No.12 overall pick, No.44 overall pick and No.174 overall pick

“Some teams might envision Hunter as just a corner to start his career, but the coach who molded him into an every-down two-way collegiate dynamo, Deion Sanders, was given his shot to be a two-way pro star in Dallas,” wrote Drummond. “The Cowboys will do the same out the gate, filling two needs with one selection.”

Hunter played a total of 1,280 snaps for the Colorado Buffaloes last season. He played 670 snaps on offense and posted 1,258 receiving yards and a Big 12-leading 15 touchdowns.

Defensively, he played 686 snaps. He had four interceptions, 36 tackles, 11 passes defended and a forced fumble. He won the Chuck Bednarik Award as well as the Heisman Trophy last season. He is a two-time All-American and would instantly give the Cowboys an elite pass catcher to pair with CeeDee Lamb. He would also give the secondary a boost after it lost Jourdan Lewis to the Jaguars in free agency.

If Hunter gets past the Patriots on draft day, the Cowboys may sprint to the phone and make the call to the Jaguars. He is a onece-in-a-generation player and could be a franchise-changing player for the Cowboys.
