The Cowboys have become the poster child for procrastination in the NFL.
Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Zack Martin, and now Micah Parsons are all examples of a slow-moving front office when it comes to signing marquee players to extensions.
Add another name to that list.
Dallas selected defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku out of Florida State in the second round of this year’s draft. The talented edge rusher is expected to join a group featuring Micah Parsons, Dante Fowler, and Marshawn Kneeland.
But first he has to be signed.
Ezeiruaku was recently asked about not having signed his rookie contract.
“I’m here doing what I have to do every single day. That’s between the organization and my agent. I have full faith that they’re gonna get that done. When it’s ready, it’ll be ready and I’ll sign that piece of paper,” he said.
The defensive end is focused on football, which is a good thing. However, the draft was almost two months ago and an unsigned rookie can turn into a distraction. He’s the only Cowboys’ rookie to have not signed his deal.
I asked Micah Parsons about leaning into mentoring and leadership, and his message to young #Cowboys edge rushers Marshawn Kneeland and Donovan Ezeiruaku:

Now that training camp is around the corner it’s imperative that Dallas locks in Ezeiruaku to avoid any further questions or concerns surrounding the issue.
With Micah Parsons’ contract extension hanging over the team and this would just add to the narrative that the Cowboys aren’t proactive in signing players.
For everyone’s sake it’s best that Jerry Jones and company get going on this deal.
