Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been very vocal in the mental health space. He lost his brother to suicide and has been an advocate for others to seek help.

On Saturday night, former Louisiana State Wide receiver Kyren Lacy died in an apparent suicide in his car while being pursued by authorities, according to ESPN.

“According to Harris County authorities, police responded to a call from a female family member who said Lacy had discharged a firearm into the ground during a verbal argument late Saturday night,” ESPN wrote. “When they arrived on the scene, they learned that the suspect, Lacy, had fled in a vehicle.”

Prescott took to Instagram to share his message about suicide.

“Please!!! Ask 4 Help,” Prescott wrote on his Instagram story. “It Doesn’t Have to End that Way!”

One of the pillars of Prescott’s “Faith. Fight. Finish” foundation is mental health and suicide prevention. The foundation also focuses on cancer research, bridging the gap between law enforcement and communities, and assisting families facing hardships.

“Our goal is to champion those who battle mental illness by helping them to always know they are not alone, find their purpose and realize that YOUR LIFE MATTERS,” reads the foundation’s website.

Lacy was a prospect in the upcoming NFL Draft. His college quarterback, Jayden Daniels, was deeply saddened by his death, posting a series of pictures and videos of Lacy on his Instagram story. Lacy was potentially just a few weeks away from joining Daniels in the NFL.
