Cooper DeJean is back home in Iowa now that the first portion of the offseason for the Philadelphia Eagles has concluded. And that means working out in Iowa City, where he shined in earning All-American honors with the Iowa Hawkeyes.
DeJean, a multi-sport standout in high school at OABCIG, gained the interest of college basketball coaches before ultimately deciding to become a Hawkeye. This past year, he helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl, returning an interception for a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Iowa men’s basketball X account heard of a pickup game involving DeJean and new men’s basketball coach Ben McCollum on Wednesday. And they were able to capture some of the action featuring the two.

DeJean told McCollum, who graduated from Storm Lake St. Mary’s High School in Iowa, that he is “training here during the offseason.” The clip proceeds to show him throwing down a couple of dunks before McCollum swipes the ball loose from him.
McCollum, who was hired after leading Drake to an NCAA Tournament appearance, tries to take DeJean to the basket on a 1-on-1, but DeJean meets him at the basket and gets the block.
“He can hoop,” DeJean says of McCollum. “I’m a little rusty.Â
