Conor Benn Tells Shakur Stevenson to Pay for Rehydration Clause

Conor Benn isn’t backing down after his recent ring confrontation with Shakur Stevenson.

When Stevenson suggested a rehydration clause was necessary for the two to meet, Benn had a blunt response: pay up. This matchup feels more complicated now that Stevenson is the talk of the boxing world. He just finished outclassing Teofimo Lopez at Madison Square Garden to claim the WBO light welterweight title in a clear unanimous decision.

If Benn gets his way and fights without weight restrictions on fight night, he carries a massive physical edge. Beyond just being the bigger man, Benn brings a level of aggression and power that Stevenson hasn’t dealt with yet. While Lopez seemed hesitant at times, Benn is the type of fighter who will eat a jab just to land a devastating hook. That relentless pressure could create a nightmare scenario for the New Jersey native.

Even if Stevenson were to fall short, he has a safety net. Moving up to a new weight class provides an easy explanation for a loss, allowing him to keep his star power intact while claiming he simply bit off more than he could chew.

Benn took to social media to keep the heat on, telling Stevenson to be ready for a potential date at Wembley. He made it clear that while he is willing to drop back down to 147 pounds for the first time in three years, any extra restrictions on his size will come with a heavy price tag.

Conor is confident that he has the tools to deal with Shakur. The real issue is whether the fight can get made, given Stevenson’s demands for a rehydration clause. Benn has made too much money in his last two fights to be dictated to.

“Shakur, Wembley locked in. Be ready,” said Conor Benn on social media.

“You want a rehydration clause? You got to pay. I’ll still smash your a**. My first fight down at 147 in three years and I’ll still give it to you,” said Benn.
