The Indianapolis Colts are likely going to make some changes this offseason after failing to reach the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year.

Whether those changes come in the form of a major overhaul of the entire regime remains to be seen. General manager Chris Ballard has a losing record in eight seasons and hasn’t won a playoff game since 2018.

However, there’s always the chance the Colts opt to make a minor change on one side of the ball. That’s where the uncertainty of Gus Bradley’s future comes in.

Finishing up his third season as the defensive coordinator for the Colts, Bradley is reportedly on the hot seat, according to Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Fowler wrote that Bradley “appears to be on the hot seat” along with a handful of other coordinators throughout the league.

Firing Bradley would hardly be a surprising move for the Colts. Though, it would be a bit of a scapegoat tactic if both Ballard and head coach Shane Steichen remain in their roles.

With that said, it’s difficult to argue Bradley should keep his job after his defense allowed the New York Giants offense to score 45 points in a game the Colts absolutely had to win. There’s simply no excuse for that.

The Colts have some quality pieces at all three levels of the defense, and Bradley’s unit has been stout at times. But they always seem to falter toward the end of the campaign, and this season was no different.

The offseason is just one game away for the Colts so this is certainly something to monitor following the Week 18 finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
