Christian Mbilli – 167 vs. Lester Martinez 167 – Weigh-in Results for Netflix on Saturday

Christian Mbilli and Lester Martinez both weighed in at 167 pounds at Friday’s weigh-in today for their 12-round fight for Mbilli’s WBC interim super middleweight title this Saturday, September 13.

Mbilli (29-0, 24 KOs) believes that his fight against the unbeaten #3 WBA-ranked Martinez (19-0, 16 KOs) could steal the show from the main event between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford to be the fight of the night on Turku Alalshikh’s card.

Mbilli-Martinez will be the third fight from the top of the card on Netflix at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Although this fight should be the co-feature, it has been placed below Callum Walsh vs. Fernando Vargas Jr.

WBC interim champion Mbilli, 30, states that his hope is that he can fight the winner of the Canelo-Crawford fight next. It’s questionable whether that will happen, though, as he’s not being mentioned as the likely next opponent for the winner.

Mbilli’s placement at the #3 spot on the card is a big hint that he’s not in the pipeline to face the winner of Canelo’s clash with Crawford. What fans could see is a match between Canelo and Hamzah Sheeraz or the winner of the Christ Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn rematch.

Analyzing Mbilli’s Key Advantages

  • High punch output
  • Experience
  • Pressure
  • Superior combination puncher
  • Stamina
  • Higher ranking: Mbilli is ranked #1 with The Ring at super middleweight.

A Stepping Stone to Stardom

“Me,” said Mbilli to Fight Hub TV when asked who is the bigger puncher between him and Lester Martinez. “We’ll see, but it’ll be a great fight. I think we have a lot of chances to steal the show. I’m born ready and I’ll be more ready after this fight,” said Mbilli when asked if he wants to fight the winner of Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford.

“I’m going to show the world after the fight that I’m ready for anyone,” said Mbilli.
