Chris Eubank Jr. is back on the heavy bag, flashing training clips that signal plans for another massive payday before 2026 closes out. While no deal is signed, Conor Benn and Hamzah Sheeraz sit as the two prime British pay-per-view options waiting for him at 168 pounds.
That gut on Eubank is not muscle. That is pure luxury padding bought by British pay-per-view receipts. To step into a ring with Benn, Hamzah Sheeraz, or any opponent dug up to face him, he will need to burn off significant excess baggage.
The immediate problem is whether Zuffa Boxing has any genuine desire to fund a third clash between Eubank and Benn. Zuffa invested heavily to stage Benn against Ryan in Las Vegas on September 12, only to watch Benn blown out in under two rounds. That defeat shattered the myth that Benn could hold his own against elite world punchers. Paying eight-figure sums to finance a third installment of a domestic soap opera makes zero business sense for Dana White and Zuffa.
Public interest in a third meeting is dead in the water. Hardcore and casual fans would recognize it immediately as a shameless cash grab between two celebrity fighters who operate on famous surnames rather than world-level achievements. Neither Eubank nor Benn has proven they can beat prime, dangerous opposition at the elite tier.
Writing another massive check for Benn to face an out-of-shape, 37-year-old Eubank produces zero return on investment outside of local UK curiosity. Zuffa targets global streaming metrics and brand dominance, not funding bloated purses for domestic nostalgia acts coming off bad losses. If Benn and Eubank demand the kind of money they made in their first two stadium meetings, White and Zuffa will tell them to go pound sand.
Matching Eubank with Hamzah Sheeraz brings its own commercial headaches. Sheeraz destroyed his standing with boxing fans when he gave up his WBO super middleweight belt rather than face Janibek Alimkhanuly. Abdicating a world title to protect a record leaves a terrible stain, removing any argument that Sheeraz is an elite attraction.
Sheeraz is not a pay-per-view needle-mover. He has shown zero natural charisma, no edge in interviews, and lacks the personality required to play a theatrical heel. Eubank can talk all day, but one man cannot carry a press tour if the other guy stands there like a statue giving generic media training answers. In the UK, you might scrape together a modest gate at an arena based purely on Eubank’s notoriety, but globally the event will do terrible business.
If Zuffa shuts the vault on a Benn trilogy, both men are trapped. Benn holds zero leverage, Eubank is carrying ring rust and visible weight, and Sheeraz brings minimal commercial draw outside the UK. The easy money built on family dynasties has run out, leaving both camps staring at cold market realities.
