The Kansas City Chiefs have the 31st pick in the NFL Draft following their embarrassing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. They could kick off their revenge tour by making a surprise trade.

Last season, the Chiefs’ receiving corps was a mess. Xavier Worthy was a rookie, Rashee Rice was hurt, Marquise Brown missed most of the season and DeAndre Hopkins failed to provide the spark the team hoped for when they acquired him. However, Worthy ended the season on a high note and Rice is expected to be back from his injury. However, that does not mean the Chiefs should be content with their receivers.

While outlining realistic trades the Chiefs could make, FanSided’s Ryan Heckman proposed this trade with the Minnesota Vikings to move up in the draft and select Emeka Egbuka:

  • Chiefs receive: No.24 overall pick and No.139 overall pick
  • Vikings receive: No.31 overall pick, No.133 overall pick and 2026 third-round pick

“Leading up to the draft, there’s a debate to be had over which wide receiver should be taken first,” wrote Heckman. “The healthy majority still see it being Arizona’s Tet McMillan, but you can never go wrong with a first-round Ohio State wide receiver as of late. Emeka Egbuka has all the tools to be the top wide receiver in this class and could come in to be Mahomes’ no. 1 option. Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown are fine no. 2 and no. 3 WRs, but Egbuka has the goods to be a legitimate alpha, especially with Mahomes in command.”

The Chiefs would only move up seven spots, but they would ensure they added an elite weapon for Mahomes. Worthy, Rice, and Egbuka’s receiving corps would be among the youngest in the league, but they have the athletic ability to be highly productive.

Egbuka surpassed 1,000 receiving yards at Ohio State twice. Last season, he had 1,011 yards and ten touchdowns, helping Ohio State win the National Championship. He also had 24 touchdowns in his collegiate career.
