Chelsea player ratings: Tyrique George gives Maresca welcome headache but Enzo fernandez’s struggles continues

CHELSEA are through to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after a strong second-half display got them out of jail.

Tyrique George equalised early in the second half after Robert Street had opened the scoring for Lincoln City and then set up Facundo Buonanotte to give Chelsea lead in the game.

The Blues’ evening was made more comfortable as Enzo Fernandez converted from the spot in the 56th minute.

Here’s how SunSport reporter Rahman Osman rated the Chelsea players…

Filip Jorgensen – 5

Made a mess when he came out and missed a simple punch. Was very lucky Lincoln couldn’t take advantage.

Malo Gusto – 6

A couple of fine tackles and impressive energy to keep going up and down his line. Gusto plays much better when asked to operate as a traditional right-back rather than drifting into midfield.

Wesley Fofana – 7

Had an early injury scare but recovered to put in a strong display. Used his pace to get Chelsea out of danger and was sharp picking up second balls.

Trevoh Chalobah – 6

Looked good in the first half but was involved in the build-up to Lincoln’s goal after being played into trouble.

Maybe could have been more proactive, but the pass to him was poor. Cleared an important one off the line in the second half.

Jorrel Hato – 5

Didn’t really stake a claim for a starting spot or make much of an impression. Tough to expect more when he barely plays.

Andrey Santos – 6

There have been calls for him to start ahead of Enzo Fernandez and he was handed a chance alongside him.

Not disappointing, but didn’t impact the game the way many had hoped.

Enzo Fernandez – 5

Nowhere near the “I’m still Enzo Fernandez” type of display. Gave the ball away cheaply with a poor pass that led directly to Lincoln’s goal.

Jamie Gittens – 6

Lively for ten minutes in the first half, but you can tell he’s trying too hard to impress. Looked rushed and over-eager.

Facundo Buonanotte – 7

Tasked with being the creative spark, looked really lost in the first half but walked through the Lincoln defence for Chelsea’s second goal. His first in a Chelsea shirt and that instantly improved his game.

Alejandro Garnacho – 5

Showed a few glimpses of excitement in the first half but faded. Didn’t get involved as much as he would have liked.

Tyrique George – 8

Hardly got a sniff in the first half and then unleashed a rocket to get Chelsea an equaliser. Hit that so well even if there were two keepers in that he would still have scored- transformed the game.
