Chelsea officially announce Alejandro Garnacho’s £40million transfer to end Man Utd star’s ‘Bomb Squad’ nightmare

CHELSEA have announced the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.

The £40million signing was spotted at Stamford Bridge earlier today as the Blues beat Fulham in the Premier League.

Garnacho, 21, watched on as Enzo Maresca’s men sealed a 2-0 win after multiple controversial VAR decisions.

The Argentine’s arrival at the Blues had seen his time in United’s “bomb squad” come to an end.

The winger is yet to play this season after he fell out of favour under Ruben Amorim.

He has signed a long-term contract at Chelsea that will run until 2032.

After signing his deal, he told club media: “It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club.

“I can’t wait to get started.

“I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special – we’re the best team in the world.

“It’s amazing to be here and I’m very happy.”

Last season for United, he featured 58 times and scored 11 goals and notched ten assists.

In total for the Red Devils, he managed 48 goal involvements in his 144 appearances.

United have seemingly already replaced the ace with the summer arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo

The club released a statement following his exit, wishing him well in the future.

It read: “Alejandro Garnacho has completed a permanent move from Manchester United to Chelsea.

“The Argentina international joined our Academy from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and made his senior debut in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford in April 2022.

“He went on to make 144 first-team appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals.

“The 21-year-old was part of squads that won the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the Emirates FA Cup in 2024, and made his final competitive appearance in last season’s Uefa Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao.

“We would like to thank Alejandro for his contribution and wish him the best of luck for the next chapter in his career.”
