Chelsea CONFIRM transfer of Jamie Gittens as £52m Borussia Dortmund star becomes seventh addition of the summer

CHELSEA have confirmed the signing of Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund for £52million.

The English winger becomes the Blues’ SEVENTH summer addition.

But he will be unable to play for them in the Club World Cup after Chelsea booked their spot in the semis.

Gittens, 20, has already featured for Dortmund in America, with the German giants playing Real Madrid for a spot in the last four tonight.

And he is now set to jet off on holiday after celebrating the Blues’ latest Club World Cup win on the pitch against Palmeiras last night.

Reflecting on his stunning move, Gittens said: “It feels great. It’s a great feeling to join such a big club as Chelsea.

“I can’t wait to learn from everyone in the team and to push myself to the max here. It’s an amazing feeling.”

Gittens, a former youth team star at Manchester City, was a priority target for Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

The Conference League winner was desperate for a right-footed wide-man after seeing Jadon Sancho return to Manchester United after his loan spell.

Mykhailo Mudryk is also unavailable as he faces a four-year ban after being charged for failing a drugs test.

And Gittens could quickly make the left wing his own with more barnstorming performances.

After joining Dortmund from City in 2020, he’s gone on to score 17 goals in 107 outings.

12 of those strikes came last season as he cemented his place in the Bundesliga side’s XI.

Gittens has also won 11 caps for England’s U21s.

However, he was not part of Lee Carsley’s latest winning Euros camp after being brought to America for the Club World Cup.

Gittens also finished as a runner-up in the 2024 Champions League final as Dortmund were beaten by Real Madrid.

And he will hoping to earn his first senior silverware in his debut west London season.

Gittens becomes Chelsea’s seventh signing of the summer, with the Blues having already landed strikers Joao Pedro and Liam Delap from Brighton and Ipswich respectively.

Defender Mamadou Sarr has joined from Strasbourg, while Estevao has completed a move from Palmeiras.

Chelsea have also landed Sporting Lisbon duo Dario Essugo and Geovany Quenda, although the latter will not move to England until next summer.
