There is still plenty of time for the scene in the NFL to become chaotic before the 2025 season kicks off. Each season, as teams try to build their rosters while staying within the limits of the salary cap, some crazy things can happen.

The Dallas Cowboys are a team that seems to always be around that kind of chatter. This offseason, the big news tailing the team is the current contract situation of Micah Parsons. The former first-round pick is one of the best players in the entire league and one the Cowboys want to keep in the fold. But sometimes, business in the NFL doesn’t always work that way.

Could the Cowboys end up being forced to trade Parsons? The likelihood of that happening would probably be low, but stranger things have happened. With Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb already getting big money from the team, is there a chance that the well will run dry when it comes to Parsons? Again, it’s not likely, but you can’t give a monster contract to everyone.

If a trade were to be on the table, more than one outlet feels that the Los Angeles Chargers could be the team to make the deal.

Hayden Victoria of Pro Football Focus is one of them.

“After moving on from Joey Bosa, the Los Angeles Chargers have both the need and the cap space to make Parsons the centerpiece of their pass rush. Jim Harbaugh’s defense would benefit from Parsons’ elite versatility and production”, wrote Victoria.

Anthony Palacios of Last Word on Sports agrees. In listing teams that could swing a deal for the 4-time Pro Bowler, Palacios starts with the Chargers.

“After losing Poona Ford and Morgan Fox this offseason, the Chargers will look dramatically different in their defensive unit. The team signed Da’Shawn Hand, but he won’t save this defense alongside Teair Tart, who is returning for another year at least. Khalil Mack still has one more year left in the tank, but it’s hard to imagine he’ll be the same if he’s the only explosive defender. Micah Parsons could easily change this defense if Dallas can’t come to an agreement on a deal and the Chargers have the cap space to compensate his new contract”, wrote Palacios.

Both writers point out the salary cap space, which would be essential in order to acquire Parsons. According to Over the Cap, the Chargers currently sit at about $26.8 million.

A trade like this would be one that could change the complexion of the entire league and it would rank amongst the biggest moves in Chargers history. It would still be shocking to see Parsons traded to L.A., or anywhere else in the league for that matter.
