The Los Angeles Chargers are molding a complete football team.
Starting with building a stout offensive line, the team developed a strong running game and paired that with a stingy defense to win their first two games this season. After falling to 2-2, the Chargers have begun to air it out with Justin Herbert and that has helped lead to them winning four of their last five games.
For months, the team has heard criticism in regards to their wide receiver room but to this point, players have stepped up when they have needed them to. Quentin Johnston has five touchdown catches and Ladd McConkey has been impressive for a rookie.
The one player the team signed in the offseason was D.J. Chark. He was supposed to provide the veteran presence the team needed. But a hip injury threw his season off the rails and now that he is finally back in the lineup, there doesn’t seem to be much of a role for him.
Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh was asked about Chark, who was on the field for just one offensive snap on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
Jim Harbaugh said the thing that’s stood out to him most is the joy. Says he’s heard fans in the community commenting on the team’s success: “I think people are seeing the same thing I’m seeing. The best part is how our guys are playing. The joy they have playing.” pic.twitter.com/SnA6C2tK9V

Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman have talked up Jalen Reagor recently and seem to appreciate what he has brought to the team. When you factor in Joshua Palmer and Derius Davis, there isn’t much room for Chark to make an impact.
As of right now, it seems the team is content with what it has at wide receiver and will use Chark as a fall-back plan. Unless someone in front of him gets hurt or falls into a major slump, we might not see Chark do much of anything this season.
