The 2025 NFL Draft will feature a list of players both past and present, representing the 32 teams in the league. Each team will have a representative to announce their picks for the second and third round of the selection process.
For the Los Angeles Chargers, announcing picks No. 55 and No. 86, that player will be Melvin Gordon, a first-round pick in 2015.
Many fans may be left mystified by that selection, but this year’s draft will be held in Green Bay and Gordon played his college ball at Wisconsin, putting together a stellar college career before being taken with the No. 15 overall pick in 2015 by the Chargers.
In five seasons with the Chargers, he racked up 4,240 yards on the ground with 36 rushing touchdowns. He still ranks fifth in team history in rushing yards. But ahead of the 2019 season, he made a public demand for a new contract.
The contract never came and his level of play sunk drastically that season, his last with the team.
He signed with the Denver Broncos ahead of the 2020 season and spent parts of three seasons with the team before a fumbling issue led to his dismissal in Denver. He finished his career with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023.

It will be a strange sight to see Gordon representing the Chargers at this draft. He may receive loud boos from Chargers fans if any good number of them makes it out to Lambeau Field.

We really got Melvin Gordon representing the Chargers to announce our draft picks in round 2 or 3 this year. Out of all the players to ever wear the bolt, the best we can do is the guy who had the worst holdout in NFL history. Unserious franchise 😂😂😂

The @chargers are sending Melvin Gordon? I get he went to Wisconsin, but the guy was in a contractual holdout in 2019 and left the team the following year.

It’s safe to say that Chargers fans don’t miss him much.
Gordon will likely take it all in stride and have some fun with it. It would be great if one of the picks he announced was a running back.
