A product of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Kaye Scott had a decorated 15-year amateur career on the Australian national team. Scott made her pro debut in November 2023 as she outpointed Connie Chan.

In the second fight of her pro career, Kaye Scott defeated Desley Robinson via majority decision. Nine months later, Scott and Robinson would participate in a high-stakes rematch.
Much like the first fight, Kaye Scott came out very aggressively, as she pressed forward and worked off the jab. It was a very competitive, action-packed bout, but in the end, Desley Robinson defeated Scott and won the vacant IBF middleweight world title.

One year later, Kaye Scott would receive another chance to fight for a world title. This time she took advantage of the opportunity as she beat Olivia Curry via majority decision and won the WBC and vacant WBA titles.

Now the 42-year-old Kaye Scott (5-1-1) is set to face the biggest challenge of her professional career. On the night of August 15th, Scott will be defending her unified title against a woman who is a 19-time world champion.

Kaye Scott is a pressure fighter who’s most effective in the mid-range. Her opponent, Claressa Shields, is a technical boxer who has all the tools. Shields has the high IQ, footwork, elite handspeed, and excellent punch placement.

Realistically speaking, most fight fans feel Scott is overmatched, and it should be a short night of work for Shields. However, there are two distinct reasons why the defending champion has a chance to pull off the upset of the year.

The first reason is the fact that Scott is familiar with Shields because she is a former sparring partner. The second reason is due to the weight cut. In her last ring appearance, Shields fought at 173.6 pounds.

In the upcoming unified middleweight world title fight, Claressa Shields has to drop down to 160. Shields has been competing at heavyweight for the past two years, and the question is, will the weight cut affect her power and stamina?

Kaye Scott hasn’t been doing much talking, but in a recent IG post, the defending WBC, WBA middleweight world champion displayed confidence.

“Locked in for August 15th. No noise. No distractions. Stay in my lane, and bring the heat.”
