Bryan Mbeumo’s ‘eye-watering wage demands revealed’ after Brentford star ‘chooses Man Utd transfer’

BRYAN MBEUMO wants £250,000 a week to sign for Manchester United, according to reports.

The Brentford forward, 25, has attracted plenty of interest having scored 20 Premier League goals last season.

Mbeumo has reportedly suggested that he is ready to snub advances from Tottenham, Newcastle and Arsenal to join Man Utd.

But the Cameroon international won’t be giving the Red Devils a discount.

According to The Times, Mbeumo wants to make £250k a week at Old Trafford – five times the £50k salary he earns at Brentford.

United chiefs are desperate to reduce their wage bill this summer.

High-earners Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, both on north of £300k a week, are set to return from Aston Villa and Chelsea respectively.

While Antony is also due back at Old Trafford following a productive loan spell in Spain.

United are juggling a desire to reduce their wage bill with an eagerness to get business done early.

Ruben Amorim’s side have already announced the £62.5million signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

And they were also keen on Ipswich forward Liam Delap, prior to the England youth international choosing Chelsea.

Brentford are set to demand at least £60m for Mbeumo.

The United target has a year remaining on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium, although the Bees possess an option to extend it by a further 12 months.

Boss Thomas Frank, who has been linked with Tottenham, has insisted that Mbeumo would be an expensive acquisition for any interested suitor.

The Dane, 51, said: “It is clear that if he is to be sold, it must be for a nice, nice amount. It is a lot. Mucho. Really a lot.

“How many wingers score 20 goals for a mid-table club? And then with seven assists plus his work ethic. And his character. All these things mean that he has a lot, so he is a good player.”

Brentford signed Mbeumo from French side Troyes in 2019, for a then-club record £5.8m.

The former France youth international has excelled alongside the likes of Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney and most recently Yoane Wissa in West London.

Mbeumo has scored 70 goals in 242 appearances for the Bees, while also laying on 51 assists.

Only Mo Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland outscored the Brentford ace during the 2024-25 Prem season.
